Old World Meets New

Authenticity and innovation culminate in this Monterey Colonial home designed with sustainability in mind

The Old World influences may be obvious, but the new world innovations are discreet. This LEED Platinum certified house satisfies our client’s desire to honor the architectural integrity of the neighborhood - the historic style is inspired by Birge Clark's Palo Alto legacy - while occupying a smaller environmental footprint. Many of the new home’s interior elements and materials aren’t new at all, but repurposed from deconstructed homes including the one that formerly stood on the property. FSC Certified woods were sourced for the flooring and doors and hand-scraped and naturally stained. The home relies on avant-garde technology for heating and cooling, while captured rain water and the home's greywater system irrigates the drought tolerant landscaping.
