Game Changer
A swimming pool and new billiards room becomes the focal point of a creative Atherton ranch house remodel
In Atherton, privacy is often the ultimate luxury, especially when designing outdoor living spaces. For this California ranch home, the generously sized swimming pool was located at the front of the property, visible from the street yet disconnected from the interior rooms and primary outdoor gathering areas. As part of this custom Atherton remodel, a striking stone wall was introduced to provide screening and reinforce the estate character of the property. The entry hall was redesigned with contemporary custom wood doors to create a visual and physical connection between the existing pool, a new billiards room, and an expanded patio, improving circulation, visibility, and year-round usability. The renovation also reconfigured the bedroom layout so that each suite overlooks a private garden, strengthening the home’s relationship to landscape while enhancing comfort and seclusion.
