New Family Residence in Menlo Park’s Allied Arts Neighborhood
Set within Menlo Park’s Allied Arts neighborhood, this new two-story residence is being designed to reflect both contemporary family life and the character of the surrounding community. The approximately 2,800-square-foot house draws from Craftsman and modern farmhouse traditions, pairing painted siding and simple forms with interiors influenced by the understated elegance of the Parisian apartments the clients admire. The design balances comfortable daily living with spaces for gathering and entertaining while maintaining a scale and presence appropriate to the area’s existing homes. Landscape design by Collin Jones will help shape the relationship between house and garden, creating outdoor spaces intended for both everyday use and informal entertaining.
Craftsman-Inspired Renovation and ADU Addition in Menlo Park
Currently in design, this full renovation and addition transforms an existing one-story house into a long-term home for a single professional homeowner, with flexibility for visiting family and guests. The approximately 3,200-square-foot project includes additions to the main house and attached ADU, along with new outdoor spaces including a pool, patios, trellis, and landscaping. Located in a quiet neighborhood of primarily one-story homes, the design responds to the scale and character of its surroundings while introducing a refined Craftsman-transitional architectural language. Painted horizontal wood siding, a metal roof, and a stone water table shape the exterior palette, while interiors by Sarah and Friends and landscape design by Collin Jones Studio help unify the project.
