In Los Altos, California, a neighbourhood known for its leafiness and village atmosphere, this contemporary barn-style home brings the outdoors in with its modern rustic interior.
Los Altos is also known for its vibrant Zoroastrian community, which is what drew Zubin and Marita Irani here with their two young sons. Their five-bedroom new-build home – which also incorporates a one-bedroom guesthouse – was designed with their children in mind, with a large garden and plenty of open-plan space to run around.
Its nature-inspired palette is punctuated with deep orange, olive and rust colours, combining two different styles. Mixing custom and off-the-peg furnishings, it’s also a lesson in how to do high-low decor.
